Rob Hill Campout - Sept 2019

Over the weekend, the Explorers Guild camped under the stars right here in San Francisco, exploring the lore of the Presidio at Rob Hill campsite. We wandered the park to learn what’s been preserved (and what hasn’t), and to reflect on the experiences that we want to keep. Below, you’ll find a recipe crafted to help preserve moments from the expedition. As with any recipe, this recipe is just a guideline. Feel free to add and adapt!

Rob Hill Preserves

Ingredients:

  • A new explorers guild song! (thank you, Wisp!) Check the #song-book channel in Slack to contribute.

  • Everyone gathered around the picnic table to view a game of Tarot played with an exquisitely designed deck filled with familiar lore (thank you, Byz & Dharla Day!)

  • Collecting all the park’s Andy Goldsworthy and other Tree-seum exhibits

  • Gathering stamps throughout Presidio

  • Anti-Explorb amulets (thank you, Pan & Zepheer!), revealed at an ancient explorb in the Officer’s Club

  • Protecting Wood Line from intrusive glitter explosions

  • “Lemonade Friends” stand serving up refreshment

  • Pineapple grilled in a shovel over the fire

  • Avocados for days

  • Home-made preserves

  • Campfire Cooks everywhere you looks!

  • Badges a-plenty: Byz for almost everything, Deeprong Mori for Culinarian, so many people (way to go, Campfire Cooks!)

  • So many more (consult your memory jars for reference!)

Instructions:

  • Gather Explorers and travel to far off lands… a campsite in the Presidio!

  • Set up tents and unpack the groceries, ensure proper storage to prevent wildlife break-ins (consult the Campfire Cooks merit badge guide for details) and eliminating all traces of Durian wafer.

  • Welcome campers as they arrive at our local edge of the earth! Formally cross the Line in the Sand into the weekend’s adventures with a collective tune to welcome new Guild members.

  • Fuel each explorer with delicious dinners of tacos (thank you, Dr. Professor) & Tunisian stew (thank you, Deeprong Mori & Kinnabari), followed by… banana boats, s’mores & campfire stories.

  • Hike our way from one side of the park to the other, collecting stamps and tree stories and exquisite views along the way.

  • Stir in plenty of laughter & adventure, and allow to sleep overnight under the stars in San Francisco.

  • Serve warmed in the comfort of friendship.
