Bridgeview Trolls - May 2021

A hearty group of twenty six Explorers came out to visit the Oakland Trolls. My heart was filled with joy to see so many friendly eyes and stylish masks. Wiggle came out with her family, now walking, talking and laughing along with the rest of us. We also got to meet Phoenix for the first time! Her bright eyes and cheerful smile makes me look forward to seeing her grow as well. I won't mark the coming of every Explorer, but needless to say it was a perfect group for our adventure.

We made our way up Sausal Creek with the promise of a Troll Village set in the hills. Though there were multiple paths we could take to get to the main village, we thought it would be best to take the natural path instead of the human built one. It provided some often difficult terrain to navigate but the views were worth it and we even got to meet some fantastical events along the way including an auspicious cat, some large beetles, runic messages, multiple rock trolls, the tunnel oracle, and some evidence of different sports played by the nearby trolls.

By the time we officially reached the Bridgeview Trolls, we found that we weren't the only visitors. Other curious humans, of all ages, were exploring their home and getting to know them better. We followed the path, keeping our eyes peeled, and finding many of the ones marked on the official Bridgeview Trolls map. There were also a number of unmarked trolls too, we found out that these were called guest trolls. Many of them got diligently logged into the Stellar Cartography book, but honestly there were too many to get all of them. Besides, surely there must have been hiding trolls too. Some Explorers additionally opted to fill out the troll backstory further by getting to know some of these individuals of renown.

Our hike eventually led to a picnic, where we held a heartwarming celebration, followed by a salon in which the Explorers who opted to know some of these trolls better, presented their findings. Over some snacks by the stream, we heard fantastical stories of the Bridgeview Troll community, and at the end awarded nine explorers their Cryptid Discoverer badge. All in all, a rather perfect day of exploration.
